Hot air balloons are generally safe since there is no engine to cut out or die or that sort of thing. However, the danger of a hot air balloon is that there is no steering. Therefore it is logical to say that you don't know where you will land because you have no control over the wind and where it will take you; possibly into a power line, skyscraper, or some other danger. All in all, even being a risk taker, i personally would never ride in a hot air balloon, although the percentage of failed flights as opposed to successful flights is slim to none. (however that is the same percentage of airplanes, and we know that those have dangers too.)
There's a chance that the balloon will catch on fire during flight...
There are traditional hot air balloons, special-shaped hot air balloons (such as animals, objects, or characters), and solar-powered hot air balloons that use solar energy to heat the air inside.
Hot air balloons float because hot air displaces cool air in the atmosphere
air balloons or hot air balloons fly because they fill with a very light type of air. The air is hot air.
This may not help, but I didn't think it had ANYTHING to do with hot-air balloons...

Hot Air
Hot-air balloons can rise up into the air because hot air is lighter, allowing it to float up into the sky.
Hot air balloons are now mostly used for leisure
Hot air balloons do not use helium; they are typically filled with hot air. Helium is non-flammable and more commonly used in other types of balloons like weather balloons or party balloons. The hot air inside a hot air balloon is what allows it to rise and float.
It is simply air that has been heated. Hence the namehot air balloons are filled with hot air from a propane tank
