The Restriction of Offensive Weapons Act 1959 specifically bans switchblade, assisted opening, and gravity opening knives, and Subsection 2 bans their importation. The Offensive Weapons Act 1996 makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 from purchasing or being in the possession of a knife, and it's presumable that the same age restrictions would imply to importation.

Since most UK legislation regarding knives is covered in the Criminal Justice Act 1988, that would be your best place to look, via the Office of Public Sector Information (see related link). If you are unable to find language in any bill which clearly indicates whether the importation of knives is legal or illegal without some sort of importation license, I would very strongly advise that you follow the 'contact us' link at the top of the OPSI website to send an inquiry to a live person in the Office of Public Sector Information who may be able to give a definitive answer to your question.
