Difference between saying ''Don't Forget'' and ''Please Remember''?

Human beings are sensitive and proud creatures. It is good to be able to use positive terms with people as opposed to negative terms. It sounds a lot better and more persuading to say please remember because you are asking a favor from the other person. When you say don't forget is like you are ordering the person around.
