Without a date it's considered a "cull" or filler coin with no extra value.
The original design had a flaw in it - the date was higher than the rim of the coin so it wore off first. The problem was that nickel is a very hard metal and it took a number of years for the flaw to be noticed and corrected. By that point there were millions of worn buffalo nickels in circulation.

Indian Head Nickels (with a buffalo on the back) were only minted from 1913 to 1938, so I have to assume you have something else -- perhaps a Liberty Head Nickel (with a big "V" on the back)? A well-worn 1891 Liberty Head Nickel is worth about $3.00
