The Royal Mint produces many different commemorative coins each year. Some are identical to the general circulation coins, but are packaged as "Mint Uncirculated" or "Proof" coins and are usually issued in year sets. As long as these coins remain in their original packaging, they are worth more than face value.

Other coins are minted from precious metals and will be worth at least the bullion value of the precious metal, plus some. As long as these coins remain in their original packaging, they are worth a lot more than face value.
