The course you go through, SV-80, is Combat Survival School which teaches you all aspects of the SERE acronym. SERE is short term for name of the school, but it is not the official school designation. This is a 3 week course all aricrew and special operators go through. There is also a school that trains the actual survival instructors(SERE Specialists) and that school is 6+ months long. This is the right one to be called SERE school. Essentialy yet it is the same, but there is a big difference between being a CST grad and a SERE Instructor course grad. I have been to both.
Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (S.E.R.E) is a program that all branches of the military have. The Air Force has their own training as does the Army. The Marines and Navy share the same program.
