The U.S. has never struck gold cents. For one thing, they'd be worth about $100 for their gold content alone!
Any low-denomination coin that appears to be gold has almost certainly been plated for use in jewelry. That makes them altered coins that are only worth face value. It would cost more to recover the few milligrams of gold plating than you could make by selling the metal.

One cent. The penny would have to be at least 60-70 years old to have any real value to a collector.
