Some travel the world seeking valuable items such as gems or historical artifacts. Some engage in risky or dangerous occupations, often in remote or wilderness locations. Some dabble in real estate or security trading. In the US Old West, they hunted gold, silver, and later oil. The common thread among fortune seekers is that most are not content to toil at ordinary occupations to earn a living in a typical way.
