Hold the rod out and mash the button on the back right of the reel. The spool should now rotate and the lure will fall. Adjust the knobs in a manner that increases the tension and slows the fall of the lure to a steady 1 foot drop per second. It is best to try and apply tension evenly from both sides which would require backing both knobs completely off and then apply pressure evenly from both sides. Once the reel is adjusted for the lure you are using you can make minor adjustments to suit new lures or your taste and level of expertise.
