Two countries - Egypt and China - imported civilian legal semi-auto AK style rifles into the US before the implementation of 922r, under the name of MAK-90. Whichever country it was, it should be stamped near the markings you described (it'll say "Made in China" or "Made in Egypt".

Two companies used the "IAC" mark - Interarms, and Import Arms Company.
