No. Perhaps you have a Trade Dollar, issued for overseas commerce. If so it'll have the words Trade Dollar on the reverse. As of 06/2008 1878-S trade dollars are worth $80 to $190 depending on condition, and 1878-CC trade dollars are worth $800 to $2000.
Morgan Dollars were minted from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921. Please examine your coin and submit a new question.
Check that date again. The first Morgans didn't come out until 1878.
I'm assuming that you are referring to the Morgan Dollar, 1878-1921. The mintmark (D, S, CC, or O) appears on the reverse of the coin underneath the eagle.
Look at the date and mintmark again, the last Carson City Morgan was struck in 1893.
the price is actually around $350 or more in "like new" condition. in coin talk, MS-60
A morgan silver dollar cost minimum 30 dollars but if it has a "S" or a "CC" mintmark it can sell up to 130 dollars.
Morgan dollars were struck at the following mints during the years shown. Look on the back above the DO in DOLLAR. Philadelphia - no mint mark, 1878-1904 and 1921 San Francisco - "S", 1878-1904 and 1921 New Orleans - "O", 1879-1904 Carson City - "CC", 1878-1893 Denver - "D", 1921 only
Please look at the coin again. There are no 1921 CC Morgan dollars.
The Carson-City Mint struck Morgan dollars for many years, so a date is needed.
Circulated coins are valued at $70.00-$150.00. Mint State coins are $200.00-$500.00 for most examples. 1878 Carson City Morgans are common.
