Yes, there are rare coins from the Bahamas. One of the coins is a 1991 Bahamas gold coin where only 500 of them were made
It all depends on where it was minted and what condition the coin is in. Typically, a coin in Good condition is worth about $5 on average. Uncirculated coins are generally worth about $20 and higher grade MS65 uncirculated coins are about $50 to $125. Check out the link to view the statistics about every Franklin half dollar, how much it is worth for different conditions of the coin.
Franklin half dollars are not rare or even scarce so if the coin has any wear at all value is just for the silver about $6.00. Uncirculated coins can be more at $10.00-$15.00
Coins that are in brilliant uncirculated condition are almost perfect. Take them to a coin collector to have them graded for free.
If you have the entire collection of coins that were minted that year and these coins are all in uncirculated condition, the value ranges from $8 to $12.
The only circulation coin to carry Franklin's portrait was the half dollar issued from 1948 to 1963. These coins are generally worth more for their silver content, around $5 to $6 as of 11/2008, than they are as collectibles unless they're in uncirculated or proof condition. There are plenty of tokens, medals, etc. with Franklin's picture too, but these aren't coins.
Franklin halves are very common, even in Mint State. Most have retail values just above the intrinsic (silver) value. EXAMPLE: With silver at $41.22 per ounce the Melt Value of all the coins is $14.90 per coin. A uncirculated 1963-D Franklin in the grade of MS-60 has a retail value of $15.30. But as with all coins, value depends on the date, grade and mintmarks, the 1949-S in MS-60 is $65.00.
It's a very common coin and is valued for only the silver at about $5.00 only uncirculated coins have higher values.
There's nothing stopping you from spending uncirculated coins, but they are typically worth more than their face value. That is, your uncirculated nickel may be worth 10 cents. And as soon as you spend them as regular change the coin loses its uncirculated status. You'd be better off selling uncirculated coins to a collector or a dealer. Most will be happy to buy your uncirculated coins for more money than you would get by spending them as change.
Uncirculated coins have no wear. They have not been used.
July 5, 2009 With a mintage of 7707 coins the 1881 Gold Dollar is scarce. Values for it range from $220 for a well worn specimen to about $400 for a lower grade uncirculated piece. In higher grades of uncirculated this coin can see values of $14,000
Brilliant uncirculated coins sell for 50 cents or more, depending on the grade of the coins. Brown coins are 10 to 25 cents.
