If you refer to the small letters to the right of the date, the D P is more likely B P.

B P is the initials of the designer of the St George and the dragon design, Benedetto Pistrucci.

Pistrucci's St George and the dragon design first appeared on the Sovereign coin in 1817 and gradually appeared on all Sovereign coinage by 1893. Some Crown coins also used the design.
