The average value is $175. if in great shape with no nicks at all. I bought mine for $100. from an estate sale who I work for and have known for years. The exterior is the main thing in determining the resale value. If there is any damage or chipping of veneer (wood fragments cracked or missing) the value is around $50. If there is only a raising of the sealer that was applied to the wood $75. That year the styling was "modern" which is not in demand as much as a more traditional or rounded top and corners is. Go on line, type in 'Lane love chest 1965' While there order a new lock assemble (free of charge). Good if you have small children who like to hide in odd places . Also good if you have just lost the key. Having the key will add another $25. to it's value. You'll need the serial # that is on the bottom of the chest . Good luck in your search and doesn't the inside of thoes chests smell great!

Lane Hope chests tend to sell for around $300 at an auction. The item must be in good condition to command this price.
