The Model 1913 Cavalry Saber (aka Patton Sword) were made at the Springfield Armory from 1913 to 1918 and by L.F. & C. in 1918 and 1919. The one you refer to was made at Springfield was obviously made at Springfield. In total, the Springfield Armory made over 35,000 M-1913 Cavalry Sabers, of which over 25,000 were made in 1914, carrying both 1913 and 1914 dates. In 1918, Springfield was authorized to make 5,000 sabers, as none had been authorized in 1916 or 1917 (examples are know with these dates). Currently, the lowest recorded serial number known with the 1918 date is 32,822 and the highest is 37,610. It is estimated that half or more of M-1913 sabers were made into fighting knives for WWII. Since condition is everything, a truly excellent example of a 1918 date saber, with a scabbard in equal condition is $650 to $950, as excellence is in the eye of the beholder.
