The value of an FB Rogers Sterling Silver Buffet piece numbered 1545 can vary based on factors such as condition, weight, and market demand. Typically, sterling silver items are valued for their silver content, which is 92.5% pure silver. As of recent valuations, such pieces can range from $100 to $300 or more, depending on these factors. For an accurate appraisal, it is advisable to consult with a reputable antique dealer or appraiser.
I have found what someone believes to be a silent butler. It is tornished beyond retoration . It is marked F.B Rogers. Is it of any value. Trade mark 1883 or 1893 (not at my disposal at the moment) It has the number 171 below the trade mark. The top seems to be cooper based . My question is what is the base made of cooper or brass plated. It sands off looking like brass.
WM Rogers was a producer of many silver plated pieces and only a very few sterling pieces. I would say 99% of it is plate. Make sure that this piece is stamped sterling, .925, or 925/1000 somewhere on the piece. If not, it is plate and worth very little in the open market.
$90 for a pair on ebay. I just realized I owned one and am looking around for the price myself.
Sterling Silver Set Value: $225
According to Replacements Ltd., the FB Rogers 7734 tray is silver-plated, not solid sterling. As of December 12, 2010, you can purchase this item through the company for $24.99. Replacements, Ltd. indicates there were only a few patterns made of real sterling. The registered pattern numbers are 118, 142, 144, 149, 164, 250, 400, 700 and 1636. The genuine silver version will have the word "Sterling" stamped on the bottom of each piece. If it doesn't say "sterling," it isn't. Naturally, sterling will command a higher price than silver plate; for example, several thousand dollars for a tea set. For more information, see Related Links, below.
