There were no Indian Head pennies made in 1843.
1843large penny
penny farthing, i think
Miss Liberty
I assume you have a U.S. large cent with that date. It should be about the size of a half-dollar. (If not, please post a new question with the country of origin - thx) There were several varieties of large cents struck that year, but most retail in the $25 to $30 range if well-worn, up to maybe $175 if almost uncirculated.
Please check your coin again and post a new question. Indian head cents were minted from 1859 to mid-1909.
Check that date again, because there's no such thing as an 1843 Indian head cent.
It can be worth anywhere around $30-$175
The first wheat cents were made in 1909.
Like all collectibles value is determined based on age & condition of the coin. Your best bet is to see a local coin dealer to determine it's value. From what I've found so far it can be worth a few dollars on up.
Inflation continues to drastically decrease the value of a schilling. What you could buy for one schilling in 1843 would cost about 305 schillings today, meaning that schilling would be worth about 7/100 of its original value.
Modern reproduction. Value may be $75-$150, depending on model and condition.
The first Indian Head cent was made in 1859 and is much smaller (19mm) than the 1843 (27.5mm) Liberty Head cent. 1843 is not a rare or even scarce date for large cents but this year has 3 types were the 'Bust' of miss Liberty is slightly different and also has small and large letters on the reverse of the coin. The values between the 3 types is $2.00 to $30.00 depending on the actual grade of the coin. In general retail values for a coin in average circulated condition (grades of G-4 to VF-20) is $18.00 to $80.00.
