Sounds like the Silver Wedding stamps for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, later the Queen Mother.
They were printed in large numbers, so they would not be a sought-after issue.
I think there was a fleet of them, so the higher denominations would fetch more, certainly in mint condition. The full set might be of interest to collectors.
I would guess there were special issues for the Commonwealth countries. Maybe the Jamaican or Tanganiyikan set would be a novelty.

There is no reason he should not be, but perhaps it would need to be a pop singer themed stamp issue.
A jumbo stamp is a legitimate stamp that is perhaps 10 times bigger than a regular stamp, but it is not a minisheet. It will probably have a denomination way above the current standard postage rate. It appears to be a relatively recent innovation and is usually used to commemorate some event.
Check the dogs stools to see if it passed. Perhaps you can still salvage it.

A postage stamp isn't 'dated.' If it has dates on it, they typically reflect something to do with the history of the what is pictured on the stamp. And stamps can be used at any time.
