Gold sovereigns were first minted in 1817.
The first circulating decimal £1 coins were released in 1983.
You need to provide the year. Without knowing the year it is impossible to value your coin. Crowns (5 shilling) pieces were minted in several different years and have vastly different values depending on what year they were minted in.
1936
The year of minting is not indicated on any coin, only the year of issue, which may be the same. The year of issue of the British One Pound coin is on the "heads" side. Coins issued for 2012 were very possibly minted in 2011, but could just have easily been minted in 2012 depending on requirements and demand for quantities of the coin in circulation.
There was no British 1888 Five Pound coin minted. The Five Pound coin with the Jubilee portrait of the Queen was only minted for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee year of 1887. During her reign the only other dates, with different designs, were 1839 and 1893. A number of forgeries dated 1888 are known.
One pound ! There were millions minted ! Every time the year changes, a new batch of coins is minted. Unless there's something 'special' about the coin (for example double-headed) - it's worth nothing more than the face value !
If you mean the first coin made by the first US Mint it was the 1793 Half Cents issued in July of that year.
The British nickel-brass One Pound coin featuring the Royal Arms design on the reverse was minted for general circulation in 1983, 1993, 1998 and 2003. All issues of these coins have "DECUS ET TUTAMEN" inscribed on the edge. The only "gold" coin struck with this design was in 2008 as "Proof in gold FDC". Only 3,000 were minted.
1903 is the year the coin was minted (made)
The 1983 One Pound coin was the year of first issue for the British One Pound coin which replaced the One Pound note. The British One Pound coin is legal tender anywhere in the United Kingdom and some of its dependencies.
The New Zealand Penny was first minted for circulation in 1940 and last minted in 1964. They were minted for inclusion in coin sets only in 1965. The New Zealand Penny was not minted in 1948.
There were no British Ten Pound gold coins minted in 1902, or any other year prior to decimal currency.
Although it is legal tender, the British Five Pound coin is not intended to be a circulating coin, but a collectible of a commemorative nature. In their year of issue, you should be able to buy a specimen cupro-nickel Five Pound coin from the Royal Mint for Five Pounds. Mostly, the Five Pound coin is minted as a Proof FDC coin, often in silver or gold and occasionally in platinum. The process of producing Proof FDC coins results in a finely finished coin with a mirror like finish on the flat surfaces and suitably packaged to protect it. This finishing process comes at a cost and the price of the coin increases exponentially if the coin is minted from a precious metal.
