A three cent stamp will be good forever for US postage. Every US stamp issued since 1861 is valid for postage.

It greately depends on the date of issue. Modern issues (last few decades or so) have values between 10 cents and a few dollars, wheras stamps issued before the WW II can have values up to several hundred dollars. The first romanian stamp issued in 1858 sell on ebay for at least 1000 USD.
