I have the same gun, I belive it was either made by the Spencer Rifle co or Crescent Arms
The made them from 48 - 62, they are date code stamped on the barrel, the location and chart is on the Remington Society of America.
If you want to know the month & year your rifle was made send me the two or three letter code stamped on the left side of the barrel back by the receiver ring.check the date code stamped on the barrel. Remington Society of America, Manufactured Date link has the details.

Fabrique Nationale or FN is the maker.

Look at the barrel on the left side, about a half inch forward of the receiver- you should find some very small letters stamped there. You may need a magnifier to accurately read them. They are a code to show month and year made. The Remington Collector's Website has a table of date codes to decipher them. Note that is the date the BARREL was made. If original to rifle, is also date rifle was made.
The receivers are stamped, the barrel is forged, and the furniture is either milled out of wood, or cast out of Bakelite or polymer. Then it's all assembled. edit to add: the receivers are stamped on the modernised AKM rifle and variants of it. The original AK-47 (and first models of the Chinese Type 56 rifle and Finnish Valmet Rk.62 rifle) used milled receivers
