The Bridgeport Chargers are proud members of The United Youth Football Leauge (UYFL) . The Chargers are an unlimited weight football program comprised of young spirited athletes that range from ages 7 to 14 or grades 2 through 8. The Chargers compete in the Candlewood Valley League (CVL), which is growing more & more every year. In the 2010 season there will be a total of 18 towns competing in the CVL, these towns include: Ansonia, CT; Aspetuck, CT; Bethel, CT; Brewster, NY; Bridgeport, CT; Carmel, NY; Hudson Valley, NY; Mahopac, NY; Monroe, CT; Newtown, CT; Norwalk, CT; Ridgefield, CT; Shelton, CT; Somers, NY; Southern Dutchess, NY; Stratford, CT; Wappingers Falls, NY and Yorktown, NY.
The Bridgeport Chargers were founded in 2006. In our inaugural season we put together two teams, a 5th grade team & an 8th grade team. This year the Chargers will be made up of 7 teams, the all new 79ers (which are the 2nd & 3rd graders), a 4th grade team, a 5th grade team, a 6th grade team, two 7th grade teams and an 8th grade team. In 2011 we would like to see the Chargers grow even more hopefully having multiple teams on every level. The Chargers would like to thank everyone for their support!!!!!!
