considering the fact that there are many good rappers out today, we can't actually say who is the best rapper. The question should be who is the most popular rapper today? If you have a great catchy beat with club potential, you will be considered a good rapper regardless of your choice of words. I give credit to Lil Wayne, drake, t.i., busta rhymes, gucci, yung joc, o.j. the juiceman, yellawolf and the list goes on. But they are the popularity amongst youngsters, MTV, and bet. I don't think that one is better than the other because they are all unique in their own style. But what about misunderstood reality rappers, such as Z-ro, 8ball & mjg, ugk, scarface, devin the dude, big chief, pastor troy, trae, lil boosie, webbie, and that list goes on and on as well. Rap has taken a stride in advancement and will continue to shock the world with different trends and songs. Rappers are not competing with each other but collaborating to accomplish a sole purpose, Make Money!

Although this is all opinionated, I have yet to hear all the other unsaid rappers that are on the rise as well. But to answer your question with the knowledge of current rappers in my database, I would have to say that Z-ro is the realest solo rapper, followed by devin the dude, followed by lil boosie, then t.i., and big chief. As far as being a lyricist using metaphors and similes, lil Wayne, drake and OJ the juice are well equipped in that area. Trap music is also becoming a rising trend that was perfected by yung joc and gucci. they can't rap about anything else. Then there is jay-z who is ultimately on a level by himself. He has accomplished more during his career than any popular artist today but he was guided by the roots of ugk, 8ball & mjg, and some old skool hip hop. There is no doubt that jay-z will and can pack the house every time he has a performance but he is not the best rapper. They all are and without each other, they would all fail because everyone pick and choose their beats and choice of words from historical music. It is what we call "Biting" in the south. Yes rappers bite on all types of sounds and lyrics. Its what make or break them.
