Not everyone likes it... but for those who do, I think that there are certain things that make it enjoyable: The technology. If you have a job that lets you use the latest software, and dual 22-inch monitors (or better, of course), then it is a lot more fun to even do simple things like surf the net from the office. If they let you use cool graphics software that you can't afford for your home computer, even better. The people. If you have a job where you like your co-workers, sometimes going to work is similar to going to see your friends. The social interaction. If you aren't really an extrovert, sometimes going to the office is the only time you see other living beings... and if they are sort of cool, then that's a bonus. You can learn to function around people rather than just your computer. The contrast to working outside. If you are living in someplace hot, or cold, or where the temperature is sometimes uncomfortable for you, a nice temperature-controlled environment is perfect. Especially if you don't have much temperature control at home. The money. Face it... part of the motivation for *any* job, office or not, is the money to survive and pay your bills. This also adds to the enjoyment factor. Even if the job is sort of boring, if you can look at the clock and tell yourself how much you made in the last hour, sometimes that is a good motivator. And if you make enough, and don't feel completely undervalued, it can make you smile. The view. Even if you don't work in a corner office (which is prime real estate in an office building), sometimes the view from your office can be compelling. Being able to glance up (or stand up and peer over the cubicle wall) and see the sunrise, or the downtown traffic, or the beautiful meadow, or the parking lot can sometimes add beauty, or at least distraction in a good way, to your life.

Working with people is fun, I think, because you get to compare ideas and tell jokes and have fun with eachother. But some people don't like working with others, this is just my opinion. -Jodibo
