The portrait of Queen Elizabeth II used on the coins of this period show her with a bare shoulder but for a garment strap.

Some of the 1956 New Zealand Pennies and Threepences and some of the 1957 Sixpences show Queen Elizabeth with a bare shoulder and no garment strap (strapless) due to an unexplained mix up with the dies used.

The "strapless" coins are considerably more valuable than than those with straps.

Penny

Of the 3.6 million minted, approximately 50,000 are "Strapless".

Threepence

Of the 4.8 million minted, approximately 300,000 are "Strapless".

Sixpence

Of the 2.4 million minted, approximately 200,000 are "Strapless".
