Why does a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 stall when you are starting up then shake at every stop sign and red light but ok when running?
I had a very similar problem with my 92 olds. with a 3.3 litre engine. tryed to find the problem for months. I recently had my transmission replaced, and they used a parts store torque converter switch. i was told it needed a factory part to work correctly. It worked! car is perfect now I hope it works for you ! Just got the 1997 olds repaired....the problem was a vacuum hose. The bill says "repair vacuum leak behind the throttle body". Thanks to this site for being there for us and to the person who tried to help.

I wouldn't fix it if i was you.....I have a 2000 alero, and the security system (passlock) keeps it from starting often, and it seems to be a big problem with them. So if your security system isn't working but the car is running fine I wouldn't mess with it..
