No he didn't retire doing Garfield. In fact his comic strip is still going on just like Family Circus, Dennis the Menace, Ziggy, Charlie Brown reruns is going on. But hopefully we'll get to see a comic strip panel where Jon finally marries Liz in a church, goes on their honeymoon and has children of their own before the comic strip does retire for good. Hopefully Jim Davis will decide to let Jon marry Liz.
