In the first book, Christian and Ana part ways in the end. Ana decides that she cannot handle Christian's BDSM lifestyle after he whips her with a belt, so she breaks up with him. However, the two are quickly united at the beginning of the second book.
Fifty Shades Freed focuses on two things. The first is the newly married relationship of Ana and Christian. The second is the fact that there is someone out to get Christian as we learn early on in the book. Also, we are still dealing with Elena (a.k.a. Mrs. Robinson) who continues to cause friction for our dynamic duo.
