Is the Maximum Ride manga and novel the same?

Not very different, actually. You get to see what the characters' wings look like, and the manga omits certain parts of the novels. Each volume of the manga is less than a book.

The manga version is much smaller and condensed missing many humorous yet non-essential anecdotes. The plot lines are very similair, however the novels are a more enriching experience as a whole. It is worth reading the novels even though they are larger. You get more attached to the characters in the novels because you're inside Max' head and feel her protective and nurturing feelings- making it, in my opinion, a more dramatic and emotional read.
