Actually, the author had a hand injury, so yes, it was discontinued for a while. However, I believe she has gotten better and is continuing the series now.

Word has it that her right hand was damaged, rendering her unable to draw for years. Volume 12 is already out in Japan & supposedly has noticably different art. If she can train herself to become lefthanded or rehabilitate her right hand, the series may continue. That's why after 8 years it's still listed as "ongoing" or "hiatus" instead of "canceled."
