No they are not. Vans Skatepark is closed on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving every year.
Converse Chuck Taylor shoes have been around since 1917 and are still around to this day. The shoe is considered a classic by shoe enthusiasts. Keds have been around even longer. They debuted in 1916. You can still find Keds shoes today. Vans, which started making shoes for surfers in 1966 continues to grow in popularity.
Now a day. Most likely China.
Those "slip-ons" are perfect. They don't try to keep the water off. Walk through one puddle and you will be fine. Have fun

I've made the correction.
I believe his name was Van Doren. I still have an old Vans box that says Van Doren .I can remember in the early/mid 70's my Brother buying them through Surfer magazine because they didn't have a "store" at the time. My first time buying them in a store (LATE 70'S ) was located on Washington Blvd. In Culver City Cal. just east of Lincoln Blvd. On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, Paul Van Doren and three partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes which were made that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon. *my first pair of Vans were bought for me by my parents at this store... red authentics/classics...in 1974.. still wear them to this day ...*
