Still get all of the other drivers information though. Don't worry, most legit rental companies have fleet insurance that covers their cars. The driver of the rental car may be held liable for damages to the rental if they didn't purchase insurance on the rental themselves. Keep in mind, this IS NOT insurance on the car. When a driver purchases insurance on a rental, they are simply paying a fee to avoid any damages to the rental car should they be At Fault in an accident or not.

Safe Auto was liable for the damages to my vehicle and after getting on them about my claim through them, I was finally reimbursed. Point being that the claim should be filed through their (the person that rear ended you) insurance company. If you didn't get any of the other person's info. then I would suggest talking with your own insurance company.
