S = Sport mode, means the gear of the car starts at 1 when you accelerate C= Comfort mode, means the gear starts at 2. Mainly used for winter weather, rain or snow, as it minimizes unnecessary wheel spin. I believe the more current models use S/W, for summer/winter, however the functions are the same as above.
twist the bottom piece of the gear nob
So that you don't shift the gear selector by accident
C is for comfort mode, S is for sport mode. In C mode the transmission will shift early, and often take off in 2nd gear. In s mode the transmission will always take off in !st gear and stay in each gear longer, giving better performance, but poorer fuel economy
Right next to the gear shift lever on the console there is a spot about the size of a pencil eraser. Insert a pen or pencil into the slot and try manually shifting it then. If you have an owner's manual the instructions should be in there.

The W button will be on the center consul near the gear selector, it is used for wet or winter weather as it changes the shift patterns for smoother starts and shifts for increased traction. (note): W button is on a toggle switch with an S so in fact it is a W/S button.
you can change the c-gear by looking on the top of the screen it it says 'c-gear' tap it
