To attach a live axle to a go-kart, first, secure the axle to the kart frame using bearing hangers or brackets, ensuring they align with the kart’s dimensions. Next, insert the axle through the bearings and tighten them to prevent any movement. Finally, attach the wheels to each end of the axle and make sure they are properly secured with nuts or cotter pins. Ensure that everything is aligned and tightened for optimal performance.

To make a shifter kart with a 1-1/4 inch axle, start by selecting a suitable chassis that can accommodate the axle size and supports the necessary components. Install the axle mounts and ensure they are properly aligned, then fit the axle with bearings and secure them in place. Attach the wheels to the axle, ensuring they rotate freely, and install a shifter mechanism connected to a suitable engine. Finally, add the necessary components like brakes, seat, and steering system, ensuring everything is securely fastened and functional.

There is no set speed anyone can tell you. Most engines are set at 3600 RPMs but it will depend on that and what size sprockets you are using from the axle to the jackshaft or clutch. Also, are you using a clutch or a torque converter b/c that will make a big difference as well.
