The gearbox enables the engine to work in its most efficient rev range while the vehicle is moving off from stationary through to its top speed.
Moving off from rest you need a low gear so that the engine can rev freely while starting to get the weight of the vehicle moving from zero speed, through to a high gear when the vehicle has momentum and less effort is required to keep it moving.
The purpose of a clutch on a vehicle is to disconnect the drive of the engine from the gearbox (this would be required when the vehicle is stationary or to change gear). While the engine is running the crankshaft is continually turning, It is the crankshaft that turns the gearbox and via the gearbox the road wheels. Obviously there are times when the engine is running but drive is not required, The clutch is the mechanism by which this is achieved.

No, that is why there is a gearbox
when gearbox fault light comes on, it means there is a problem with the gearbox. you need to take vehicle to a mechanic
In a gearbox fitted to a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle, the three shafts are the input shaft, output shaft, and countershaft. The input shaft transmits power from the engine to the gearbox, enabling the transfer of engine torque. The countershaft, which is connected to the gears, facilitates the gear changes and allows for varying torque and speed outputs. Finally, the output shaft delivers the power from the gearbox to the rear wheels, driving the vehicle forward.
To identify the type of gearbox in your Vivaro, start by checking the vehicle's documentation, such as the owner's manual or service history, which often lists the gearbox specifications. You can also look for identification labels or tags on the gearbox itself, typically located on the casing or near the input shaft. Additionally, you can inspect the vehicle's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and consult a dealership or parts specialist for specific gearbox details. If you're unsure, consider seeking assistance from a qualified mechanic.

it is a device that is inline of the speedo to give the speed of the vehicle its normally on the gearbox.
To remove the gearbox from a Ford Transit, first ensure the vehicle is securely raised and supported. Disconnect the battery, then drain the transmission fluid and remove the driveshaft, starter motor, and any electrical connections. Next, unbolt the gearbox from the engine and any supporting brackets before carefully sliding it out of the vehicle. It's advisable to have a helper to assist with the weight and positioning of the gearbox during removal.
remove radiator cap......back vehicle up......pull new vehicle underneath :)
the speed sensor is located ar the rear of the gearbox pointing upward. there are 3 wire coming out which plug into the loom on top of the gearbox. after unplugging the wire the sensor unscrews from the gearbox.
