A speed zone sign indicates the maximum allowable speed for vehicles in a specific area, helping to ensure safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. These signs can vary depending on the type of road, surrounding environment, and specific conditions, such as school zones or construction areas. Drivers are required to adjust their speed accordingly when they see these signs to comply with traffic laws and promote safe driving practices.
The T indicates a speed rating of 118 mph maximum. The R stands for Radial construction.
Depends on the state, in most all it is posted in that particular construction zone. This is done because where there are a lot of trucks coming in and out of the construction itself, you might need to go slower than an area that has construction beside the lane you are in protected by a concrete divider. Slow down...life is too short
The maximum speed you may drive in a particular location.
What might you encounter in a construction zone giving instructions?
Yes. It is still a construction zone workers or not.
That varies by state. I know in Raleigh, it's 65 MPH on I-40, and 60 MPH for most of the I-440 beltline. I can't be 100% certain about this, but I believe the lowest speed limit I've ever seen on an Interstate Highway (other than in a construction zone) was 50 MPH.
