All tractors were pre-registered and had to be at least 30 years old, though at least a few were over 80 years old. They drove around the track at Fonner Park four times to meet the minimum two miles to set the new record. The previous record was 745 tractors at an event in Germany in 2008.

In the World Baseball Classic, tiebreakers are determined by a series of criteria. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head record between the tied teams. If that is also tied, the next criteria is the team's record against common opponents. If still tied, the next criteria is the team's overall run differential. If necessary, a one-game playoff may be held to determine the winner.
