First check af level (when cold) then if ok, start and check for operation of thermostat by squeezing upper hose. Once it warms up, thermo will open and hose will become hot and hard. You should be able to feel circulation. Next watch all hoses and turn on heater to allow water to go through core. You have 4, upper, lower rad and 2 for heater, look for leaks. If no leaks let it run and see if temp will hold or if it continues to increase. If it holds test af w.hydrometer, if not confirm fan operation and you may consider flushing rad. Also look for pinhole leaks on rad while hot and running. Check dipstick for signs of water in oil.
Could be a bad water pump.
No - you do not need to have the truck running.
Running hot or timing too far advanced
If the truck only runs hot when it's not moving, then its most likely an issue with the fan clutch. Especially if the air conditioning is performing poorly as well. Start with the fan clutch.
By running out of it.
A running board is a narrow step under the side door of a truck. Running boards are used for easier entry into a truck, especially a truck with a high entrance. Running boards are also used as a fashion statement.
No. You unplug the block heater BEFORE you start the truck.
