The last year for the classic three-speed column shift pickup trucks in the United States was generally around the early 1990s. Many manufacturers, such as Chevrolet and Ford, phased out the column shifter in favor of more modern automatic transmissions and floor shifters. Specifically, GM's last column-shift pickup was produced in 1991, while Ford continued to use the column shifter in some models until the early 1990s as well.
