only GM vehicles are equiped with onstar.
Mercedes does not offer OnStar. OnStar is a product of General Motors and is only available in GM products and Lexus vehicles. There were a couple years were it was available on some Volkwagen and Audi vehicles.
Yes, it does. You need to subscribe to OnStar for it to work, though.
General Motors (GM) was one of the first companies to allow Onstar to be put in their vehicles. Since then the Onstar company has branched out to other car manufacturers.
The OnStar Corporation provides a 24 hour service. The OnStar button is located inside your car and will connect you to someone who can help you with directions or in emergencies. Originally OnStar was only available for GM vehicles, but can now be put into any brand of car.
OnStar, a service provided to give directions and assistance to drivers, is now available for most cars when you buy them. However, it is considered an option in most cars, for which you will extra.
OnStar is designed to automatically notify emergency services in the event of a crash, but this service is only available to subscribers. If a vehicle is not subscribed to OnStar, the system will not send notifications or provide emergency assistance. However, some vehicles may still have basic crash detection features, but they would not connect to OnStar’s services without an active subscription.
OnStar was launched in 1996 as a subsidiary of General Motors. Initially, it was introduced as a safety and security feature for GM vehicles, providing services like emergency assistance and vehicle tracking. Over the years, OnStar has expanded its offerings to include navigation, remote vehicle access, and various connectivity features.
Only if you have onstar. Some 2006 TB's have onstar, but most don't. It came standard in all GM vehicles as of 07. You probably have analog onstar which does not work anymore (not sure when that happened) but only the digital onstar works. If you have the analog and your in an accident onstar will try to connect but it wont work and possibly drain your battery. If you find out this is the case you may be able to upgrade to digital for a lot $$ or you can get it disabled at a Chevy dealership for free
As far as I am aware, no. I work for Enterprise and I have not heard of Enterprise, National, or Alamo having active OnStar in their vehicles. Enterprise does, however, include roadside assistance in their rental services.
OnStar was created in 1995.
In order to disable OnStar unplug the cords that are connected to the OnStar box. The OnStar box is found in the inside panel of the trunk of the car.
