All of the ones that I have worked on have the tach pickup made into the alternator, believe it or not. There are two different alternators that can go on this engine and they look the same from the outside and use all the same wires. They are delco-remy. I'll get you the part numbers.
On a 1992 Kodiak with a Caterpillar 3116 engine, the tachometer drive is typically located on the engine itself, often at the front or rear. It is connected to the engine's timing gear or camshaft, which allows it to measure the engine's RPM. The drive usually features a cable that runs to the dashboard to display the RPM reading on the tachometer gauge. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific details and diagrams.
The normal oil pressure range for a Cat 3116 engine in a 1993 TopKick during highway use is typically between 40-60 psi when the engine is at operating temperature. It's important to monitor oil pressure regularly to ensure proper engine lubrication and performance.
A Caterpillar 3116 engine typically holds around 10-13 gallons of oil, depending on the specific model and configuration. It is important to consult the engine's manual or contact a Caterpillar dealer for the most accurate information for a specific engine.
Depends on which engine it has in it. For that MY, you might have a Cummins 6BT, 3116 Cat, 3126 Cat...
Depends on what engine it has. IIRC, that model could be had with the DT466, DT530, Cummins 6BT, Cat 3116, or Cat 3126 engine.

To run overhead on a c7 Cat engine, you will have to adjust the valves in order to return them to where they should be. In order to do this you will need feeler gauges in order to bring it back to where they were set by the factory.
Did you overfill the oil?
3116 mm1 meter = 1000 millimeters 1 millimeter = 0.001 meter
