Husqvarna, who is owned by Electrolux, yes the vacuum company, owns AYP, this is who builds the "Craftman" brand machine. I worked for years for a Ariens Distributor and was not aware of AYP ever building machines for Ariens. One way to kinda check it out is look at the serial number plate, what town does it show it built in ? NC, AYP...Brillion WI Ariens factory.

From what I can discern, AYP makes Husqvarna, Craftsmen, and Poulan...pretty sure of those plus perhaps Husky and Weedeater.
