Cheap air conditioning. Lots of students create lots of heat, and it's impractical to air condition something that large. A white roof will reflect the sun, rather than absorb the energy -- in the same way a white shirt is cooler than a black shirt on a sunny day, a white roof will lower the inside temperatures compared to a dark / yellow roof.
Reflect the light/heat. Its like clothes. Darker the color, the hotter the bus is. Its like its own AC
Because the colour white reflects heat.
3-4 school buses long
to tell them apart from public transport.
The flashing white strobe on top of school busses is also on top of all EMR Vehicles. The Stobes are speaking to the traffic lights.. M2M ( Machine to Machine ). When the smart traffic lights detect the stobe, they are qued to change to green, or prevent from changing to red. This allows emergency traffic to keep flowing, instead of being caught in traffic jams. In the case of the school busses, it allows the buses to arrive on time to school every day. Not all cities have the smart traffic lights yet, and even those that do, only the major arteries have them.
According to a New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/1992/06/17/us/cooling-and-safety-trend-for-buses-white-tops.html), bus tops are painted white to help cool the interior temperature. "Painting the bus tops white dropped the interior temperature an average of 10 degrees during the summer, with as much as a 17-degree difference at peak hours. Wintertime temperatures were lower by only 3 to 4 degrees. The study also found that children behaved better on buses in cooler temperatures ..."
Having a white top (particularly those with a bus number written on it) enables police to spot the bus from the air, easily, in case of emergency. The white color also stays cooler by reflecting the sun's rays.
Because the white reflects heat and keeps the bus cooler. They would get extremely hot with all the students if the roofs were not white.
School buses are known to be the safest veichels on the road.
really school buses are orange and yellow
No they don't because school buses are not living creatures.
There is no set colour for school buses in Europe. Europe has about 50 countries and they have lots of school buses of all sorts of colours.
Wiring schematics for international school buses can be found through the original manufacture of the school buses. These schematics can be used by auto mechanics when the buses need to be repaired.
Newer school buses do have seatbelts. However, it is expensive for school systems to buy all new buses every year, and most counties and districts only replace a certain number of buses each year. This means that, though newer school buses do have seatbelts, not all school buses currently in use are equipped with seatbelts.
