It's not gold. The U.S. never minted a gold penny. If you think about it for a second or two it would be nonsensical to do so. Even back in 1997 the price of gold was so high that 1¢ worth of it would be so small you'd need tweezers to pick it up.
Your coin is either:
1. Plated for use in jewelry or a so-called "collectibles" set
2. Altered in a high-school chemistry experiment.
3. Struck at a point near the end of the useful life of the copper bath used to plate the underlying zinc. The copper solution gradually accumulates trace amounts of zinc as it's used, eventually giving it a somewhat golden color as opposed to looking like the copper that's expected.
In any case it's only worth one cent.
If it is a penny, then it has to be.
how much is a penny weight of 10k gold worth
My guess would be that it was plated with gold (or a gold-colored metal) after minting, and that it is thus worth about a penny.
A 1959 gold Lincoln penny is not worth much. Coin collectors will pay between 45 and 65 cents for this penny depending on condition.
Pennies are made of copper and zinc. there is no gold in them
All US cents were made in copper not gold. If they were made of gold they would be worth way more than a penny. Your coin is gold plated for decorations or jewelry. It is worth very little. Perhaps a dollar two. If it was not plated gold it wold be worth more.
Sorry no US gold half penny of any date never made any
The date of the "gold colored penny" is needed. Post new question.
1/4 gold selling for in penny weight
a ring and 14k gold 18 inch chain weighs 15.7 in penny, how is it worth in u.s. dollars?
Sorry! It's worth a penny. It's only gold plated which doesn't add any value to the coin.
No.
