you can trade with them at Fort Independence and if you give Casdin enough gear* he will tell the Outcasts to be friendly to you, and you can enter the Fort without them being hostile, but you have to pick the lock first. they don't really seem that friendly, and are still rude to you, but you can go on the Fort. i would like to join them too, and was wondering if i keep trading him tesla armor would he let me join? but prolly not. *lots of tesla armor

No, you simply need to pick the lock on the door, or you give protector casdin tons of stuff that the outcasts are interested in, like enclave power armor, plasma weapons, alien power cells(not recommended), etc., until he declared you a friend of the outcasts, then lockpick the door. Doing the second method wont make the outcasts hostile, making the retrieval of the Miss Launcher (unique missile launcher) a lot easier.
