It depends on what you consider important.

However, I would say it's a boon.
It helps with hunting and surviving. Imagine if birds couldn't warn each other of danger, or if wolves couldn't strategise with each other. If humans hadn't learnt to communicate with each other, we wouldn't be here, and I wouldn't be answering this question. :)
