Here are a few thoughts to start with: Pros: * Landlines provide stable and reliable connection, not easily impaired by interferences and similar effects * Weather and similar effects to not generally impact communication quiality through landlines * Landlines can provide power supply and connectivity to make emergency calls even at times of a general power cut (this requires the use of a traditional landline phone, not a powered cordless phone or similar advanced model) * A call made from a landline can be traced to an exact geographical source (although some would list this as a disadvantage, I suppose) Cons: * Landlines are tight to the cable in a fixed location * Eavesdropping is fairly easy on landlines, compared to mobile (cellular) phone technology * Hijacking a landline (make phone calls at somebody else's expense) is relatively easy (although illegal of course)
