The invention of the telegraph.
Abraham Lincoln was the first president to be able to talk with his officers on the spot using the newly invented telegram. This allowed near instantaneous communication was something the south didn't have which left them at a disadvantage.
It's correct that some people born with great communication skills. The prophets of God and some great people are the best examples of this statement. But habitually the people have to become the great communicator. They have to seek knowledge and communication abilities to become attractive and good communicator. A person who is not a confident speaker or communicator can become great communicator after practicing and learning the communication proficiency. Abraham Lincoln belonged to a very poor family and didn't know reading and writing but after the age of ten, he started study and become a greatest and confident communicator. His communication ability has enabled him to become the president of America. So we can say that some people born great communicator but the majority have to become great communicator. In the series "Episodes," Beverly Lincoln's ringtone is the theme from "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." This choice reflects her character's humorous and somewhat ironic nature, as it contrasts with the serious situations she often finds herself in. The ringtone adds a comedic touch to her interactions and highlights the show's satirical tone.
The telegraph system created by Samuel Morse had been vastly improved from its earlies days of 1838. The Union used the telegraph extensively to communicate from field armies to Washington DC for example. In fact, in one unsuccessful Union battle, the one at Fredericksburg , Virginia, President Lincoln stayed in touch with General Ambrose Burnside via telegraph. In this case, however, the "advanced" communications, allowed Lincoln to inform Burnside to assault entrenched Confederate forces under Robert E. Lee. Despite the advice of Burnsides generals, he proceeded with the assault based on Lincoln's orders.

Lincoln could send personal letters or messages to military officers, offering direct encouragement or strategic guidance, which is less common for presidents to do today. This hands-on approach allowed him to maintain close communication with his generals and make tactical decisions in the Civil War. Additionally, he could grant promotions or special orders that reflect his unique involvement in military affairs, emphasizing his role as Commander-in-Chief.
