802.11 anything is half duplex in practice. Only one station can speak at a time because of the CSMA/CA algorithm. It's the only way to ensure that there is no "collision" between 2 transmitting stations on a single channel. Mind you, that the CSMA/CA algorithm is applied per channel, not per SSID.
