Local area network
a home group or work group
A wide area network (WAN) is a telecommunication network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network that links across metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries).
Ah, computer networks are like happy little trees connecting devices together so they can share information. There are different categories of computer networking, such as LAN (Local Area Network) for small areas like a home or office, WAN (Wide Area Network) for larger areas like cities, and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) which allows devices to connect wirelessly like birds in the sky. Remember, just like painting, each category has its own unique beauty and purpose.
Local Area Network (LAN) allows two or more computers to access the internet through a single router and, by creating a shared folder/directory, to share data between any computer connected to the LAN.

A computer network that spans a long distance and uses specialized computers to connect smaller networks.
It is a Local Area Network (LAN). It is the type of computer network commonly found in a house or on small business premises.

City networks are commonly known as WAN's, or Wide Area Network's.
LAN is an accronym for Local Area Network. A LAN is a computer network that covers only a small area, usually within one building, or perhaps provides connectivity across a college campus. Contrast this with the WAN, or wide area network. A link is provided below for review and further investigation.
Wi-Fi is intended as a replacement for a wired local area network which is a computer network that covers a small area such as a home or office. Bluetooth is intended as a replacement for wired data transfer within a personal area network which is usually considered a computer network in an area even smaller than that of a LAN, usually limited to a few meters, which is used for data transfer between devices such as laptop computers and cellphones.
The classification of computer networks is done mostly through range and function. Some of the common classes include local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and metropolitan area network (MAN) among others.
A network that (a) is composed of different interconnected computer networks and (b) covers an unlimited geographical area. Note: Loosely synonymous with an internet (as opposed to the Internet (with an uppercase "I"), which designates one specific network).

LAN is a Local Area Network which covers a small physical area, it is mostly used in school, colleges, office, home, and in airport.
